SUPPORT

A quick start.

  1. Enable Tab Return.

Open Safari → Settings → Extensions and turn on Tab Return.

  2. Allow access to your tabs.

Safari asks for permission to read tab titles and URLs. Allow the websites you want to include in search.

  3. Find your next tab.

Press ⌘⇧K while Safari is active. Type part of a title or URL, use ↑ / ↓ to select, and press Enter. Esc closes the popup.

Something not working?

If a title is missing, check website permissions in Safari Settings. After accepting a permission prompt, reopen the popup or choose Retry. On supported Safari versions, you can change the shortcut in extension settings.

Recent-tab ordering begins as you visit tabs after enabling the extension. Safari may not expose inactive tab groups, iCloud tabs, or tabs in other profiles. Private browsing requires separate permission.

PRIVACY POLICY · SEPTEMBER 11, 2026

Your tabs stay on your Mac.

This policy covers the Tab Return Safari extension and its containing macOS app, developed by Mehrdad Alvandipour.

Tab information

Tab Return reads the titles and URLs of open tabs to display and filter them. That processing happens on your device. The extension does not send tab information to the developer or any server.

Local storage

The extension stores tab identifiers and their recent-use order locally. It does not save tab titles or URLs to that history. Closed tabs are removed from the history, and it resets when Safari starts. Removing the extension removes its extension storage.

No tracking

The app and extension contain no advertising, analytics, tracking, accounts, or third-party SDKs. You control website access and private-browsing access in Safari Settings.

Support email and this website

If you email support, your address and the information you choose to include are used to respond to your request. Email is processed by the email providers involved. Please contact us to request deletion of support correspondence, subject to any applicable retention obligations.

This support website is hosted by Cloudflare. Its hosting provider processes requests and technical information needed to serve the website. The website does not receive browsing information from the extension and we have added no analytics or tracking scripts.
